How we built this glossary

The translations are the words manufacturers and bike shops actually use in each country, not literal translations: that's why a chainring is a corona in Italian and a cog is a pignone. We checked them against manufacturer manuals and shop catalogs in each language. English entries use the American term (tire, fender), with the British one alongside when it differs. Portuguese is the European variety; when Brazil uses a different word, we list it separately.

The definitions are our own and include numbers where they help. If you spot a wrong translation or a missing term, let us know.
