The short version

  • No accounts. There is no sign-up and no login.
  • Your data stays on your device. What you save in My Bike and in the calculators lives in your browser's storage and never reaches us.
  • Everything is calculated in your browser. The calculators don't send what you type to any server.
  • No ads. We measure visits to learn which pages get used; in Europe, analytics cookies are only set if you accept them.

Data controller

The owner of BikeRatio, whose details are listed in the legal notice. You can reach us through the contact form.

BikeRatio is run from Spain, so this policy is governed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spain's Information Society Services Act (LSSI), wherever you visit from.

What we don't collect

We don't ask for or store your name, your email, your weight, your measurements or your bike's details. We don't build profiles and we don't sell data.

What stays on your device

My Bike and some calculators save your data in your browser's local storage (localStorage, key garage.v1) so you don't have to enter it again. It is essential for the service you're asking for and can't be used to track you. You can delete it from My Bike (delete each bike) or from your browser settings (clear site data). If you share a bike by link, the data goes in the part of the address after the hash (#), which your browser never sends to any server.

Technical data when you visit

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which receives technical data from each visit (IP address, browser, page requested and time) to serve the site and protect it from attacks. Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare may process data outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

Visitor statistics

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics, with no cookies and nothing stored in your browser. It counts visits per page, referrer, country, device type and load times, and we only see aggregate numbers. Cloudflare keeps the detailed data for 7 days and the summaries for up to 6 months. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages get used so we can improve them.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC), to learn how people find the site and which pages and calculators they use. It collects visit data (pages viewed, referrer, approximate country and city, device and browser) with a random identifier stored in a cookie; IP addresses are not stored. We keep this data for 14 months.
  • Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation), for heatmaps and anonymous session recordings (clicks, scrolling) that help us improve the design. Clarity masks what you type into fields. It keeps data for up to 13 months.

If you visit from Europe, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only load if you accept in the cookie notice (legal basis: your consent, GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Outside Europe they load when you visit the site. Google and Microsoft may process data in the United States under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

If you contact us

Through the contact form we receive the message type, your message, your name and email if you give them and, in bug reports, the page and, if you check the box, your browser and screen size. We use this only to reply to you and fix what you report, and we delete it once it's no longer needed (one year at most). To stop spam we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you're not a bot. Legal basis: your consent when you submit the form.

Some links are affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). When you click them you land on the store's website, which may use its own cookies under its own policy.

Cookies

Cookie Set by Purpose Duration
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics Tell visits and sessions apart 13 months
_clck, _clsk, CLID and others from clarity.ms Microsoft Clarity Link the pages of one visit and analyze how the site is used 1 day to 1 year

These are analytics cookies, not advertising cookies, and in Europe they are only set if you accept them. You can change your mind at any time from the "Cookies" link in the footer, or delete them in your browser settings. The local storage used by My Bike and by the cookie notice (to remember your answer) is strictly necessary, so it doesn't require consent (LSSI Art. 22.2 and Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive).

Your rights

You can request access to, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, or object to its processing, through the contact form. If you feel we haven't handled your request properly, you can file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).

Visitors from the United States

We don't sell your personal information and we don't use advertising cookies, ad pixels or cross-site advertising tracking. Our analytics tools (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) only measure how this site is used. Since we don't collect the details you enter in the calculators, there is nothing about them for us to hand over or delete. The rights described above apply to every visitor, wherever you live.

Changes

If what we do with data changes (for example, if we add advertising one day), we'll update this page and its date before it happens.
