Giant puts a size guide by height on each bike’s page, next to the geometry. These are the ones for its best-selling models (Giant’s European spec pages, checked in October 2026), and the TCR ranges match the chart published by US retailer The Pro’s Closet. Giant gives them in centimeters; we converted them to feet and inches, rounded to the nearest inch. Giant notes that the ranges are a guide and can vary by country, and some model years differ from what’s on sale in the US.

If you’re between two sizes
With Giant it’s the norm: on the TCR, at 5 ft 8 in (172 cm) you’re an S or an M, and at 6 ft 1 in (185 cm), an ML or an L. Decide with the geometry:
- Reach (the horizontal distance from the bottom bracket to the head tube): grows 5 to 9 mm per size on the TCR. With long arms and torso, or if you like to ride stretched out, go larger.
- Stack (the height of the head tube): rises about 15-20 mm per size. If your back bothers you or you’re coming from a hybrid, go smaller with spacers, or look at a Defy.
- On mountain bikes, the current trend is to size up for stability on descents and size down for a more playful bike on slow trails.

What size Giant TCR do I need if I'm 5'11"?
You fall into the M (5 ft 7 in to 5 ft 11 in, 171-181 cm) and the ML (5 ft 10 in to 6 ft 2 in, 177-187 cm). For a race position or long arms, the ML (393 mm reach); for comfort, the M (388 mm) with the stock stem.
What is a Giant ML size?
A medium-large, the in-between size Giant uses on its road and gravel bikes. On the TCR it covers 5 ft 10 in to 6 ft 2 in (177-187 cm) and on the Defy 5 ft 10 in to 6 ft 1 in (178-186 cm).
Do the Defy and TCR have the same sizes?
The letters, yes; the ranges, no. The endurance Defy starts higher at XS (5 ft 3 in, 160 cm) and has narrower ranges, and its stack is taller, so you sit more upright on the same size.
